Very very active with bears. Have a clean campsite and make sure to not leave food around. Bears will come messing with the campground in the night!

Beware of bear that doesn't seem to mind humans ! This bear owns hoegees he has a den up on the hill and watches over the camp to see who brings food. Do not spend the night at this camp unless your prepared to deal with a stubborn bear.

Nice that it is further away from the cars. The campground is nice and relatively quiet (considering you are minutes a way from millions of people). If staying the night, use a bear canister or hang your food (away from your tent).

Tie your food up and have a blow horn or bear spray.

I've been there twice and both times have had bears try and take food from trash left behind by other campers/hikers. It can go from fun to real serious stuff if your not careful and have a messy campground.

It was beautiful and amazing. However, be careful for bears because bears came 2 times at night ,sniffed our tent, and ate our food while we listened in terror. We should have prepared our food better, so it's worth the hike as long as you prepare for bears. Aside from that, there were deer, waterfalls, newts, streams, and amazing times if you love nature.

If you're looking for an out of the way place with few amenities and an amazing location with a year round stream, this is the place for you. There are picnic benches, bbq pits, out houses and not much else. No running water that I am aware of. It's right in the middle of a 5 mile Winter Creek loop trail that starts at Chantry Flats, so you'll have a 2+ mile trek to get there. Love it and do the loop trail almost every week.
